So now you have 15 reasons why you should start a blog, and we’ve shown you how to create a blog, step-by-step, based on our personal experience. But after giving you those detailed instructions, which could save you the hundreds of hours of wasted time, we also want to give you some good reasons why you should not start a blog. (Keep in mind that these reasons are just our opinions, and we do not pretend to offer them up as some sort of collection of empirical blogging maxims.)

The idea is that if you write about something that’s already in the news or the national consciousness, you know readers will be searching for it. You become more relevant, easier to find based on what they are searching for and can pick up new readers just by putting out a tempting and timely topic.

For beginning bloggers, I recommend writing for 30 minutes per day.  That’s it.  Just sit down (without checking your email!), open up a new post or a saved draft, and write until 30 minutes is up.  If you feel really excited about what you’re writing and want to keep going, then do!  But if the inspiration just isn’t there, then go grab a snack and get on with the rest of your day.  The important thing is to write as a discipline and to develop your style, while not driving relentlessly toward a certain number of posts per week.  People burn out on blogging that way.

Hey, Love this post. Been blogging online myself since 2010. I know all too well of how powerful blogging is for branding and monetization. Nice, one!

You can put together a spreadsheet to manage topics, dates, assignment and promotion. We use Google Sheets, and then schedule corresponding events in Google Calendar.

And if you’re using blog commenting as a strategy for getting new readers, choose 10 (or so) blogs where you feel this is working effectively for you and stick with them.  Become an active member of those communities and take the time to leave insightful, helpful or engaging comments.  It’s fine to read some blogs “just for fun,” but don’t mix this in with your blog’s readership building time.  Keep business and personal reading time separate so you can manage your time well.

May 8, 2014 Reply Joseph Ratliff 39. Let your passion (and knowledge) shine through your posts, not the “I need money” factor. People have an innate sense that you’re “going for the click” or becoming a “used car salesman.” In your emails, don’t use deception and trickery to get “opens.” Show your true intent, are you selling or are you sharing? The emails I read on a daily basis don’t need to “sell” me anything, I am more than happy to support the artist who is sharing content… WHEN they are on my short “trust list.”

Hi Mike, glad you found it useful. This is one post where I was really writing to myself…and I think I would be wise to revisit it from time to time.

Similarly, Neil Patel is generous with information a lot of people would be hesitant to provide. For example, he talks about how he spent $28,200 on infographics and generated 2,512,596 visitors and 41,142 backlinks. That’s what sets his blog apart from all of the other Internet marketing blogs out there.

Larry Frank Hey Ankit, This article is incredibly great, its both beneficial to newbies and pros. Thanks for sharing and do have a wonderful day ahead.

People love to read passionate writers, even if the topic isn’t necessarily something they have an interest in. Write about what you have passion for. Even if you think no one will read it because it’s a niche topic, write.

Yes, you can do that if you got a free WordPress.com solution. However, if you are serious about blogging, it’s wise to start off with a self-hosted option right away

Hi Asad, I’ve recently got my Adsense approval and I’ve signed in, But my site is under construction. It may take a month or long to complete it, By the time I complete my site do my adsense account will be cancelled or it will remain.

Additionally, I highly recommend you to read Harsh guide on crafting a guest blogging campaign. There, you can learn what all you should do to get maximum exposure and link benefits.

Really, there are so many ways to increase traffic to a website or blog. Social media, email list, guest posting, videos, content marketing, blog commenting, email outreach and the list goes on and on and on.

That’s why focus on just 1 traffic source at a time. Be it social media, content marketing or SEO. Focus on one traffic source, spend all your time on it and you will eventually become so good at it that you will see better results.

26. Take Your Social Media Efforts to the Next Level One of the fastest ways to get more exposure and increase your website sales is to harness the power of social media. It's the quickest way to go viral online if done right. Gangnam style, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga - all became famous because of social media. They all have millions of followers, and their net worth is over billion dollars. That's the POWER of social media sites. If you are not yet using it properly, this is the time to do it right. Instead of focusing on all the social media sites at once, focus on ONE source at a time. Give a try to Facebook. Try all the strategies to get more attention (create memes, Infographics, try Facebook ads, create compelling headlines, connect with the influencers, etc.). Then move on to Twitter. Repeat the same. ➜ Suggested Reading: How To Effectively Use Google+ For Blog Promotion? #BloggingTips - Take Your Social Media Efforts to the Next Level Click to Tweet

There are some limits to free blogs. You can’t fully monetize it, and you don’t have the possibility to upload all those videos and images you want to show everyone – it’s all limited. Worse still, you won’t even have access to the free themes offered by WordPress.
