Law Of Attraction - Anger - Introspection And Knowing Yourself

Every morning for the next week before you start your day, go to your bedroom, close the door, and pile all your pillows in the center at the head of the bed. Kneel on the bed with the pillows in front of you. Bow gently to your inner self and to the Universe. Then start beating the living daylights out of the pillows.

Do this as a spiritual exercise. Use either your fists, or another pillow, or a plastic baseball bat. Do it for five to ten minutes, or longer if that feels appropriate.

When the time is up, fall into a heap on the bed and breathe deeply until you catch your breath. When you've come back to your center, get up, kneel on the bed as before, and bow again to yourself and the Universe. Then go about your day.

You won't believe the incredible feeling of lightness you'll have after doing this. There are so many messages waiting to come to us, but they can't easily move through the negativity of anger and the bad feelings we frequently carry with us.

Get in touch with how you deal with anger. Do you clan up? Do you harbor burning thoughts? Do you take your anger out on others? Whenever you find yourself reacting in these or any other counterproductive ways of denying anger, go to the pillows and beat the living daylights out of them for a least five minutes, or as long as it takes.

If you have any anger you've been carrying around, or if you even suspect that you might, this will be one of the most powerful and liberating things you can do.

You may have to replace your pillows frequently. But that's probably preferable to having to replace your stomach lining, or a heart valve.

When you find yourself embroiled in any kind of less-than-joyous emotion, such as anger, or frustration, or impatience, or worry, or negative thinking, take a moment and simply ask yourself, "What's happening here?" Try to figure out what is taking you away from your center.

When you can say, "Ah, that's anger" or "That's worry," then you know what you're dealing with. You can figure out what you're angry about or worried about, and then work on it. Often, simply identifying what's happening will be enough to relieve your distress.

If you're angry, get to your pillows as soon as possible. Or get some fresh air. Or connect with the sun. Remember to do some deep breathing, which is good for almost anything that ails you.

It's possible that you're simply tired, hungry, or thirsty, and that your body and psyche are responding accordingly. If you don't stop to notice what's happening, it's so easy to end up being tired and angry and frustrated all at the same time. Then you're completely miserable and you don't know why. Try living your life based on the law of attraction: our natural state is pure joy. It's when we're truly happy that we're in touch with our souls. The pain and the suffering we feel through any negative emotion or experience is simply a way to tell us how not to live. When we learn to identify what's going on, we can make the changes we need to make to get back into our natural state.

Hey peops, just to let you know that if you’re using Less with the Less.app on Mac, it doesn’t accept the original ‘device-pixel-ratio’ of 1.5 or indeed the opera equivalent of 3/2. All device-pixel-ratios need to be 2 only. Just thought it might help someone out there! Peas and korn.

Ultimately, the only way to truly stay anonymous online is to never go online in the first place. If you’ve already used the internet, delete any and all accounts you’ve ever created, turn your computer off and smash it to pieces. You will still leave a digital footprint of some sort in your wake, but hopefully it’s not particularly significant. If you’re using this extreme method, you should also smash up your smart phone, your tablet and your smart TV (they’re listening to us now). Now that you have purged all connected technology from your life, you may wish to live in self-imposed exile, perhaps in a cave, so that you are not tempted to re-enter the online world. Don’t tell anyone about this and you will successfully have acquired complete anonymity. Probably.

Prior to El Capitan, OS X defaulted to grouping items in Notification Center by app. Since El Capitan, Apple switched things up and now groups them by date instead. For instance, all your notifications from today will show up together, which can be useful for seeing what you missed while you were stuck in that all-day meeting.

By cybergrannie November 5, 20140 found this helpfulAre you referring to the camera that lets other people see you when you are "talking" to them? In any case, computers are different so you will have to find this in your laptop manual. If you do not have a manual then research it on line. You will just have to have your laptop "name" and model number which is on your laptop. Usually you can find a manual to review on line or maybe print it out to keep for future reference. You can also just Google your question (include laptop name and model) and maybe find an answer that way.First - find the name and model number as this is necessary for anyone to be able to really answer your questions. On a computer, just click on any video while pressing Shift+Alt (Shift+Option+Click on a Mac), and under “Stream Manager” you can manually adjust the bandwidth usage. There is also an option to adjust how the audio and video synchronises, just in case the dialogue and actors’ mouth movements have parted company.

Did you know that there is a secret "Send To" menu that you can access with the Shift key? Hold down Shift, right-click the folder and select the "Send To" menu. This lets you access a whole new set of file locations, so you can quickly re-locate a folder without the hassle.

One little known fact about Macs is that they use a different file system than Windows computers by default. That means, if you’re planning on sharing an external hard drive between both Microsoft’s and Apple’s operating systems, you have a few options. While you could format the hard drive to take advantage of the exFAT file system, you would thereby miss out on faster write times. Luckily, in the Disk Utility app featured in macOS, there’s the option to partition hard drives. In doing so, you can theoretically divide the hard drive in half, with one volume being dedicated to macOS and the other to Windows. Take the hard drive over to your PC and you can format one of those volumes for NTFS, making it the perfect little hybrid device.

Chances are, you’ve probably already found a few awesome tools and added them to your productivity arsenal, but most programs can be used for more than just their inteded purpose. Cloud storage tools like Dropbox, for example, are also great for monitoring your home computer, printing files from afar, and even downloading stuff with BitTorrent. Savvy folks can use Gmail to store files in the cloud or find out if someone’s stolen your laptop. Any tool can become multipurpose if you know its ins and outs.

Edward Snowden has called Dropbox - a cloud storage service - ‘hostile to privacy’. That’s pretty damning. If you’re worried about sharing your files through this system, there are a number of good alternatives out there which offer better privacy. Snowden himself recommends Spideroak, which describes itself as a zero-knowledge encrypted data backup, share, sync, access and storage service. You can use a limited version of this as part of their free trial, which can be found on their website. A fully featured subscription is available for $12 a month. However, if you’re just looking to quickly share small or large files anonymously for free, give OnionShare a go. It doesn’t have as many features as Spideroak, but it gets the job done.

The processor is a power hog, often using as much as half of the total power in a system. Smaller is better; as the size of the microscopic wires and electronic architecture within the chip shrinks with each generation, its power use declines.

Quickly launch a new instance of a program Those taskbar icons can also be used to quickly launch a second (or third, or fourth, or…) instance of a program—a fresh browser window alongside an already populated one, for instance, or another Windows Explorer window.Doing so is easy: Just hold down the Shift button, then open the program as you normally would, either via a left click of the mouse or the aforementioned quick-launch keyboard trick. Boom! A new, clean version of the software appears alongside the one you already have open.

Since Yosemite, though, you can name group chats by clicking Details at the top right then typing a name at the top.

David Englund Permalink to comment# March 7, 2015 I am using the Responsive Theme. What if I want to hide my sub-menu items on the desktop, but show them on the mobile? I use the “Responsive Menu” plugin for mobile, which provides a nice slider expand/collapse look for menus there. But, on the desktop I don’t want sub-menus to show. The main menu items (e.g., About) will take you to that section/page of the website, where a sidebar navigation will then be used from that point on for all the associated pages. Reply ↓

You missed some of my favorite ones, for moving around in text. These work in most text situations, including this comments box. I love not having to move my hand over to the mouse every time I want to reposition the cursor.

More secret right-click options Secret right-click options revealed by the Shift key don't end with file paths, though. The basic Send to tool that appears as an option when you right-click on a file or folder is handy enough indeed, allowing you to move the item quickly to a handful of locations on your PC, add it to a .zip archive, or send it off in an email or fax.But that's just the tip of the iceberg! Holding down the Shift key as you right-click a file or folder will add an absolute ton of new folder locations to the basic Send to menu.

Colin Daniel Lafferty Permalink to comment# May 7, 2013 This is an informative article however i would approach responsive design much the same as we currently do for fully fluid layouts. My personal approach is semi fluid in nature with responsive design only to enhance the content. If for example we apply a fixed width on the container (div as the most semantic selector) Then we can simply target that by simply applying a max width, minimum width and auto for backwards compatibility. Of course will work for semi modern browsers this is the best option in my opinion. We can scale this up or down based upon a percentage and change the width constrictions and there we have a complete fluid and responsive design. Of course other elements needs to be specifically styled, rearranged or sometimes hidden (i would not recommend) by using media queries. Reply ↓

The recently-revised tool allows you to see a film's Rotten Tomatoes score as well as its IMDb rating – not to mention access to other IMDb content as well as any trailers. Still indecisive? Rather than trying to track that missing file down or manually delete the legion of copies, whip out the universal Get Out of Jail Free card that, somewhat surprisingly, also works within Windows proper: Crtl + Z. The keyboard shortcut undoes your last action, restoring order when chaos suddenly appears. (Crtl + C and Crtl + V for copying and pasting, respectively, also work properly within Windows.)

The virus essentially prompts users to download and install a fake software update. It then proceeds to harvest the user Keychain and phish for usernames, passwords as well as any other credentials, before eventually relaying the recovered data back to the attacker.

With Mail since Yosemite, though (and in fact with the webmail version of Mail at icloud.com), you can email files up to 5GB in size. What in fact happens is that the attachment really gets uploaded to iCloud, and then a link is sent to your recipient where they have 30 days from which to download it.

There are six components that are the major power users in a computing device. They are listed here roughly in order of power use, although that can vary based on the notebook itself. They have each been redesigned over the past decade for greater efficiency, but there's still work to be done.

Preview has some fantastic tools built into it for annotating images and PDFs. And, what's best of all is that the annotations it adds to a PDF are based on a standard that's compatible with Adobe's PDF app, Acrobat, which is used by Windows users and companies - so it's easy to share annotated documents with colleagues.Make sure the Edit Toolbar is visible (from the View menu) and you'll see you've got options for drawing shapes, arrows, speech and thought bubbles and more. However, by doing so, that also kills my iphone4+ styling where I *do* want the footer to display. The problem is that the iphone4+ and the normal *smartphone* min/max dimensions are targeting the same dimensions of 320 and 480 respectively and I am unable to get separate devices with same width/height ratios to be targeted differently without overriding each other. Every program to the right of the Start button is assigned its own numerical shortcut, with the first program being "1," the second being "2," and so on, all the way to the 10th taskbar shortcut, which gets "0." Pressing the Windows key, plus the number of the program you want to open, launches it. For example, in the image at left, pressing Win + 3 launches the Chrome browser.

When you move your laptop from a cold to a warm environment, and vice versa, don't boot up until your system reaches room temperature. Sudden temperature changes can cause condensation to build up inside the notebook case; turn it on too quickly, and the moisture could damage your system's inner components.

Every operating system has hidden things lying under the hood, you just have to know where to look. Windows users should check out the hidden features of Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10, while Mac users should peruse the hidden features of OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, Yosemite, and Mavericks. If you want to find even more, you can often find them in Windows’ Registry or in OS X’s terminal. System tweakers like Ultimate Windows Tweaker, OnyX for Mac, and Ubuntu Tweak are also great places to find secret features.

The next power drain is your screen. While you obviously need to keep it up and running to use the laptop, you don't necessarily need it running at maximum brightness or resolution. Many laptops will have hotkeys for increasing and decreasing the screen brightness, but if not, it can be adjusted in the control panel. Reducing the display to 50 percent when you're running on battery power can add a significant amount of time.

Shut down unused and highly intense appsnhungboon/ShutterstockIf you’re not using an app, make sure that you exit out of it. If they are running, they will use up your battery. Also limit the use of highly intense apps such as games and editing software, they use up a lot of energy and will drain your battery much faster. Make sure you know the ways that computer hackers get into your computer.

It’s not the only option for getting your media files on your Sony gaming console. The ever-wonderful Plex app is one way of getting content from your computer to your PS4 (and it’s free), but if you want a slightly more complex route then you can set up a DLNA server and use this to beam music, video and photos over to the PlayStation box.

Sloppy Cricket

Handy over from Andya Pandya is spoiled when he tries a bouncer last ball, and it's called a wide. Digs the bonus ball in, Azhar uppercuts it, and Yuvi makes a right mess of the fielding on the rope. He pat-a-cakes the ball over the fence for a cheap boundary.

Liquor baron Vijay Mallya has created quite an infamous image of himself in the media. The 61-year-old, who fled the country and sought refuge in the UK, after breaking his word to pay back loans worth more than Rs9,000 crore from various Indian banks, was spotted at a few public events recently. And the business tycoon’s presence at the India versus Pakistan contest at ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and later at Virat Kohli’s charity called for a lot of censure from media houses.

Seam at both ends now for Pakistan, Hasan back into the attack. He's getting the ball to nip back a little and is asking a few questions of Rohit and Kohli. The former tries to go on the attack, attempting to drill the ball down the ground but he doesn't time it and mid-on intercepts. In response, Hasan gets Rohit ducking under a short ball - a terrific, lively delivery. Another quiet over - just another single.

Indian batting though looks a bit shaky despite the presence of veterans like MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. While Shikhar Dhawan looked in a fine form during India’s warm-up games against New Zealand and Bangladesh, the other opening options – Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane – did not enjoy a good time in the middle. Kohli, who did not bat in the second warm-up, though looked comfortable in the first practice match against the Kiwi side. While Kedar Jadhav and Dinesh Karthik staked claims with some impressive batting show, Yuvraj Singh’s lack of match time and Dhoni not batting in the second game, mean that India will have a tricky task at their hand.

Come on Pakistan. Get your act together. India are putting their foot down and Pakistan are crumbling under pressure. A terrible over from Wahab, who really is old enough to know better. Short and wide outside off, leg stump half volley, short and wide outside off. Dhawan goes four, four, four. Next ball, Wahab produces a decent slower one, but Dhawan has seen that coming, and dabs it into the offside, where Shadab makes an amateurish misfield. That turns none into two and Pakistan are coming apart at the seams here. Fifty for Dhawan.

None has played in county cricket except, briefly, Shoaib Malik a decade ago, so they did not have the knowledge of Edgbaston that so many of their predecessors had. “We do the basics wrong, we do the simple things wrong,” said Pakistan’s coach, Micky Arthur. “The only thing I can think of is the magnitude of the occasion got to them.” It should have been an influential toss that Pakistan won, but they could not make the most of bowling first at 10.30am in damp conditions because their fielding was so awful and their tactics so strange. Amir bowled line and length, very well too until his cramp, and that was about the extent of Pakistan’s maximising the conditions – because they opened the bowling at the City end with a spinner, and played two specialist spinners and a part-timer in all, while India dropped Ravi Ashwin and sufficed with one. Amir could not swing the new Kookaburra – neither could India’s pace bowlers when the time came – but he did pitch it up and give it a chance to deviate. In his first spell Hasan Ali did too, and that was it. Pakistan’s teenaged legspinner Shadab Khan bowled gamely and tied down Rohit Sharma for no more than singles at a stretch, but overall Pakistan’s attack made little of the conditions, most notably their most senior bowler, Wahab, who bowled short and wide to India’s batsmen.

Imad Wasim comes in to open the bowling from the other side, for Pakistan. A spinner opening in English conditions is highly unusual, indeed. He makes a good start, however, giving away only three runs from that first over.

Imad Wasim continues. He has an economy rate of 4.7 in ODIs, which is splendid. Strike rate of 41, and he has taken more than a wicket a match. Averaging as he does 42 with the bat in ODIs, it all adds up to what Nick Knight would call a very useful cricketer. VUC Imad worked for five in this over.

Good news. The rains have suddenly stopped, the covers are off, and we are all raring to go, as Team India get into another huddle. The good part about this is that the sun is out, and we can see clear blue parts of the sky.

And the rains have started to pour down on Edgbaston Cricket Stadium yet again. The English weather just cannot make up its mind today. the covers are out, as the players run off to the dressing room again. We'll bring you more updates from Birmingham, as and when we get them.

Sorry India.Tried to broker peace via actors, films, sports etc..with Pakistan, but they just want hatred,so be it!Taali do haath se bajti hai!

Where was the game won? It was rather lost, in the death overs, with Pakistan conceding 72 runs in the last four overs, grotesquely bowling a spinner in the last, which constituted one of the many baffling tactics from Sarfraz. India won that moment - Hardik contributed with his cameo - and then Bhuvneshwar kickstarted a train of stop-and-start partnerships, none of which sustained. A good opening partnership was tamed, Pandya upped his bowling game with figures of 2/43 and Pakistan were dished out a hammering. They opted to chase to evade Kohli but ironically, rammed their heads into an upcoming battery of Indian bowlers. And a vintage Yuvraj Singh.

Mind you, the last one was a bit risky! Needlessly tight run by Kohli, who drops and goes. Rohit would have been struggling. I am handing you over to Ben Curtis for half an hour.

Come on Pakistan. Get your act together. India are putting their foot down and Pakistan are crumbling under pressure. A terrible over from Wahab, who really is old enough to know better. Short and wide outside off, leg stump half volley, short and wide outside off. Dhawan goes four, four, four. That turns none into two and Pakistan are coming apart at the seams here.

Virat Kohli(2/2): The intent from Shikhar was outstanding. Rohit took his time. He needed runs under his belt. From the next game he will be expressive and we all know what kind of a batsman he is. I felt like a club batter in front of Yuvi. He took all the pressure off me, when I was not hitting it well. Yuvraj is in the team because he is a game changer. Hardik as well finishing it off was really outstanding. The batting I would say was 10 out of 10. The bowling and fielding, I would cut one mark. Purely because of the fact that we were playing Pakistan. They play spin really well. Most of their line is made up of right-handers. In pressure situations to be able to hit over mid-off and mid-on is tough. That allowed us to pick wickets and be aggressive throughout the innings. Guys who don't play spin well, we will play with 2 spinners. It is about who you are playing against.

6:33PM WICKET! Imad c Jadhav b Pandya 0 Sarfraz misses the chance to put Pandya away through the legside when he strays too straight, but only gets a single.  Imad faces his first ball, and chips a drive straight to the grateful mitts of Jadhav at cover. It was a shorter length  delivery than he thought, and as a result he was always hitting on the up.

Rain interruptions reduced Pakistan’s target from 324 off 48 to 289 off 41 but their innings never threatened to take off. Apart from Azhar Ali and the promise of Babar Azam, the standard of Pakistan’s batsmen has fallen to sorry depths. None has played in county cricket except, briefly, Shoaib Malik a decade ago, so they did not have the knowledge of Edgbaston that so many of their predecessors had. At times India’s fielding was almost as comical as Pakistan’s but Ravi Jadeja managed a flash of brilliance with his running out of Malik from backward point. Malik and Mohammad Hafeez were the bulwark of Pakistan’s batting in the last Champions Trophy of 2013, and neither scored a 50 then, so all too little has changed. India, the holders, have emerged as the team to beat.

Shikhar Dhawan's wicket has calmed things down a little bit, as he was the one who was going after the bowlers. One thing that happens when Virat Kohli is at the crease though, is that the India skipper always makes his partner, Rohit Sharma in this case, run the close singles, and the 2s.

A four over spell seems to be enough for Amir, for now. Paskistan skipper Sarfraz wants to preserve him for later. Hasan Ali into the attack, in the 9th over.

Bar that wide second ball, this is the first delivery from  Imad Wasim that has offered anything to the batsman. Bit too short, Rohit rocks back and cuts for four.

OVER 43: IND 242/2 (Kohli 42* Yuvraj 37*)         Glad you dropped Yuvraj Singh now, Hasan Ali? Gets his foot out of the way and murders the ball down the ground for four. Now he tries a slower ball but Yuvi has seen it all before. That sits up nicely, he is onto it, and it's soon sailing into the midwicket stands for six. 36 off the last four and Pakistan are in all sorts. 23 balls for Yuvi so far. Does any bowling attack in world cricket receive so little support from their fielders as Pakistan? Almost impossible to build pressure.— George Dobell (@GeorgeDobell1) June 4, 2017

Pakistan became a permanent member of the International Cricket Council in 1948, and their tour of India was their first in Test cricket history. They lost the first Test in Delhi to India, but won the second Test in Lucknow, which led to an angry reaction from the home crowd against the Indian players. India clinched the Test series after winning the third Test in Bombay, but the intense pressure affected the players of both teams to the point that they pursued mainly defensive tactics that led to drawn matches and whole series without a victor. When India toured Pakistan in 1955, thousands of Indian fans were granted visas to go to the Pakistani city of Lahore to watch the Test match. But both the 1955 series and Pakistan's tour of India in 1961 ended in a drawn series with no test yielding a winner or loser. Complaints about the fairness of umpires also became routine.

OVER 16: IND 79/0 (Rohit 42* Dhawan 33*)       Near mix-up between the batsmen as they ponder a second run. Rohit slips! But gets back okay. Now he's crashed a ball through the covers for four, and after a wide, Dhawan has uppercut another boundary behind square. India starting to happen.

Rain stops play Cheers Ben. There's 25 minutes left in the bank, as it were, before we have to start losing overs. Doesn't look too bad. Rain spoiled the contest between these two in the 2013 Champions Trophy on this same ground, India getting home comfortably in a DL chase of 102 in 22 overs. Credit: Sky Sports

Sloppy cricket from Faheem Ashraf, much like most of his other teammates who have batted today. You can feel Sarfaraz is under immense pressure by looking at his running. 1997-98 (Pakistan) The Indians had not toured Pakistan since 1989-90 because of political tensions, though they had continued to meet regularly for ODIs, usually on neutral territory, such as Sharjah. In fact they had played each other only a week earlier, in Toronto, where India won the Sahara Cup 4-1. They finally returned to Pakistan for a short one-day series which opened India's Golden Jubilee celebrations. Pakistan took revenge for their Canadian setback, with Saeed Anwar leading them to a 2-1 victory (Rameez Raja, the previous week's captain, had already been dropped). The crowds were mostly welcoming, though there was trouble during the second match, in Karachi, when the Indian fielders were stoned by some spectators, causing an abrupt end to Pakistan's innings. That resulted in Pakistan's only defeat, but a stunning century from Ijaz Ahmed at Lahore brought the series to a triumphant conclusion. ODIs: Pakistan 2-1 India

Mathews is keeping his best bowlers, he isn't thinking 50 overs, his mind is set on 10 wickets and rightly so. He is telling the Pakistanis that his bowlers are coming after that and every Pakistani batsman bar Fakhar Zaman has looked tentative so far. The short delivery is working well for Sri Lanka. Pakistan batsmen are in two minds thinking whether to leave or play them. None of the Pakistani batsmen roll their wrists while playing the pull shot but are still going for them even with men back at the boundary. This is either going to come off spectacularly or fail embarrassingly.

Education Policy | Harvard Graduate School of Education

Universal Primary Education is one of the eight international Millennium Development Goals, towards which progress has been made in the past decade, though barriers still remain. Securing charitable funding from prospective donors is one particularly persistent problem. Researchers at the Overseas Development Institute have indicated that the main obstacles to funding for education include conflicting donor priorities, an immature aid architecture, and a lack of evidence and advocacy for the issue. Additionally, Transparency International has identified corruption in the education sector as a major stumbling block to achieving Universal Primary Education in Africa. Furthermore, demand in the developing world for improved educational access is not as high as foreigners have expected. Indigenous governments are reluctant to take on the ongoing costs involved. There is also economic pressure from some parents, who prefer their children to earn money in the short term rather than work towards the long-term benefits of education.

The education sector or education system is a group of institutions (ministries of education, local educational authorities, teacher training institutions, schools, universities, etc.) whose primary purpose is to provide education to children and young people in educational settings. It involves a wide range of people (curriculum developers, inspectors, school principals, teachers, school nurses, students, etc.). These institutions can vary according to different contexts.

Education - Mirror

At the level of the individual, there is a large literature, generally related to the work of Jacob Mincer, on how earnings are related to the schooling and other human capital. This work has motivated a large number of studies, but is also controversial. The chief controversies revolve around how to interpret the impact of schooling. Some students who have indicated a high potential for learning, by testing with a high intelligence quotient, may not achieve their full academic potential, due to financial difficulties.

Children should be helped to develop the life skills they will need as adults, and every pupil should be given advice and guidance about their future. We will:

While considered "alternative" today, most alternative systems have existed since ancient times. After the public school system was widely developed beginning in the 19th century, some parents found reasons to be discontented with the new system. Alternative education developed in part as a reaction to perceived limitations and failings of traditional education. A broad range of educational approaches emerged, including alternative schools, self learning, homeschooling, and unschooling. Example alternative schools include Montessori schools, Waldorf schools (or Steiner schools), Friends schools, Sands School, Summerhill School, Walden's Path, The Peepal Grove School, Sudbury Valley School, Krishnamurti schools, and open classroom schools. Charter schools are another example of alternative education, which have in the recent years grown in numbers in the US and gained greater importance in its public education system.

Autodidacticism (also autodidactism) is a contemplative, absorbing process, of "learning on your own" or "by yourself", or as a self-teacher. Some autodidacts spend a great deal of time reviewing the resources of libraries and educational websites. One may become an autodidact at nearly any point in one's life. While some may have been informed in a conventional manner in a particular field, they may choose to inform themselves in other, often unrelated areas. Notable autodidacts include Abraham Lincoln (U.S. president), Srinivasa Ramanujan (mathematician), Michael Faraday (chemist and physicist), Charles Darwin (naturalist), Thomas Alva Edison (inventor), Tadao Ando (architect), George Bernard Shaw (playwright), Frank Zappa (composer, recording engineer, film director), and Leonardo da Vinci (engineer, scientist, mathematician).

Informal learning usually takes place outside educational establishments, does not follow a specified curriculum and may originate accidentally, sporadically, in association with certain occasions, from changing practical requirements. It is not necessarily planned to be pedagogically conscious, systematic and according to subjects, but rather unconsciously incidental, holistically problem-related, and related to situation management and fitness for life. It is experienced directly in its "natural" function of everyday life and is often spontaneous.

The report showed some cases of successful voucher and subsidy programmes; evaluations of international support to the sector are not widespread. Addressing regulatory ineffectiveness is a key challenge. Emerging approaches stress the importance of understanding the political economy of the market for LCPS, specifically how relationships of power and accountability between users, government, and private providers can produce better education outcomes for the poor.

Investing in high quality early years education has a huge impact on children’s attainment as they enter school. Our most vulnerable children have the most to gain from excellent early years setting, with partnerships with parents a key component. We will: Increase our Early Years Pupil Premium to £1,000 per pupil per year. Raise the quality of early years provision and aim for every formal early years setting to employ at least one person who holds an Early Years Teacher qualification by 2022.

A culture is beginning to form around distance learning for people who are looking to social connections enjoyed on traditional campuses. For example, students may create study groups, meetups, and movements such as UnCollege.

An academic discipline is a branch of knowledge which is formally taught, either at the university–or via some other such method. Each discipline usually has several sub-disciplines or branches, and distinguishing lines are often both arbitrary and ambiguous. Examples of broad areas of academic disciplines include the natural sciences, mathematics, computer science, social sciences, humanities and applied sciences.

We need to grow the country’s skills base, especially in the technologies and industries that are most important to Britain’s economic future. We want it to become the norm for businesses to take on and train up young people as apprentices in every sector of our economy, and for higher level apprenticeships to be understood as a respected alternative to university education.

To meet this responsibility, Labour will create a unified National Education Service (NES) for England to move towards cradle-to-grave learning that is free at the point of use. The NES will be built on the principle that ‘Every Child – and Adult Matters’ and will incorporate all forms of education, from early years through to adult education.

College basketball coach John Wooden the Wizard of Westwood would teach through quick "This not That" technique. He would show (a) the correct way to perform an action, (b) the incorrect way the player performed it, and again (c) the correct way to perform an action. This helped him to be a responsive teacher and fix errors on the fly. Also, less communication from him meant more time that the player could practice.

After the Fall of Rome, the Catholic Church became the sole preserver of literate scholarship in Western Europe. The church established cathedral schools in the Early Middle Ages as centres of advanced education. Some of these establishments ultimately evolved into medieval universities and forebears of many of Europe's modern universities. During the High Middle Ages, Chartres Cathedral operated the famous and influential Chartres Cathedral School. The medieval universities of Western Christendom were well-integrated across all of Western Europe, encouraged freedom of inquiry, and produced a great variety of fine scholars and natural philosophers, including Thomas Aquinas of the University of Naples, Robert Grosseteste of the University of Oxford, an early expositor of a systematic method of scientific experimentation, and Saint Albert the Great, a pioneer of biological field research. Founded in 1088, the University of Bologne is considered the first, and the oldest continually operating university.

The conventional merit-system degree is currently not as common in open education as it is in campus universities, although some open universities do already offer conventional degrees such as the Open University in the United Kingdom. Presently, many of the major open education sources offer their own form of certificate. Due to the popularity of open education, these new kind of academic certificates are gaining more respect and equal "academic value" to traditional degrees. Many open universities are working to have the ability to offer students standardized testing and traditional degrees and credentials.

Higher education, also called tertiary, third stage, or postsecondary education, is the non-compulsory educational level that follows the completion of a school such as a high school or secondary school. Tertiary education is normally taken to include undergraduate and postgraduate education, as well as vocational education and training. Colleges and universities mainly provide tertiary education. Collectively, these are sometimes known as tertiary institutions. Individuals who complete tertiary education generally receive certificates, diplomas, or academic degrees.

In 2012, the modern use of electronic educational technology (also called e-learning) had grown at 14 times the rate of traditional learning. Open education is fast growing to become the dominant form of education, for many reasons such as its efficiency and results compared to traditional methods. Cost of education has been an issue throughout history, and a major political issue in most countries today. Online courses often can be more expensive than face-to-face classes. Out of 182 colleges surveyed in 2009 nearly half said tuition for online courses was higher than for campus-based ones. Many large university institutions are now starting to offer free or almost free full courses such as Harvard, MIT and Berkeley teaming up to form edX. Other universities offering open education are Stanford, Princeton, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Edinburgh, U. Penn, U. Michigan, U. Virginia, U. Washington, and Caltech. It has been called the biggest change in the way we learn since the printing press. Despite favourable studies on effectiveness, many people may still desire to choose traditional campus education for social and cultural reasons.

Preschools provide education from ages approximately three to seven, depending on the country when children enter primary education. These are also known as nursery schools and as kindergarten, except in the US, where kindergarten is a term used for primary education. Kindergarten "provide a child-centred, preschool curriculum for three- to seven-year-old children that aim at unfolding the child's physical, intellectual, and moral nature with balanced emphasis on each of them."

In formal education, a curriculum is the set of courses and their content offered at a school or university. As an idea, curriculum stems from the Latin word for race course, referring to the course of deeds and experiences through which children grow to become mature adults. A curriculum is prescriptive and is based on a more general syllabus which merely specifies what topics must be understood and to what level to achieve a particular grade or standard.

It has been argued that high rates of education are essential for countries to be able to achieve high levels of economic growth. Empirical analyses tend to support the theoretical prediction that poor countries should grow faster than rich countries because they can adopt cutting edge technologies already tried and tested by rich countries. However, technology transfer requires knowledgeable managers and engineers who are able to operate new machines or production practices borrowed from the leader in order to close the gap through imitation. Therefore, a country's ability to learn from the leader is a function of its stock of "human capital". Recent study of the determinants of aggregate economic growth have stressed the importance of fundamental economic institutions and the role of cognitive skills.

Schools in England are facing an unprecedented funding crisis, with rising pupil numbers and an inadequate financial settlement means that real-terms per-pupil funding is being squeezed. At the same time the Conservatives’ flawed approach to the National Fair Funding Formula means some schools will lose out even more. Liberal Democrats believe every child deserves a high-quality education, wherever they live. We will: Reverse all cuts to frontline school and college budgets, protecting per pupil funding in real terms. Introduce a fairer National Funding System with a protection for all schools, so that no school loses money per pupil in cash terms. Protect the Pupil Premium which targets extra help at disadvantaged children. Over the Parliament, this means an extra £7 billion for school and college budgets
